Link to a specific time in a YouTube video

At long last, YouTube offers the feature of deep linking, to link to a certain point in a YouTube video. This is done by adding a short tag to the end of the URL, a tag that looks like this "#t=4m45s". 4m meaning four minutes and 45s meaning 45 seconds, ...

A few things I've been wondering since I last wrote about the G1 just got confirmed, at least if you believe Mike Butcher's article on TechCrunch (which I do of course), is that the gPhone, the HTC G1, does not have a flash player for the web browser. Even though ...

Stoked about the new Nokia N97 yet?

Nokia N97

I’ve been looking at the new upcoming Nokia N97 for a while now, doing research, watching videos and what not. I’ve noticed I’m drooling more than I thought I would. My initial thought was that it just looked way too chunky, and I guess yes, it is pretty damn chubby. But couldn’t it be worth it?

Zigabid - Market-Driven Pricing for Concert & Sports Tickets

They call it “A Ticket Revolution”. Why? “You’re supposed to haggle!”.

Zigabid But joking aside, what it is, is really human negotiation, between the buyer and seller. I asked Brian Kupetz, Director of Development for the La Canada, CA based company Zigabid to tell me a little about what makes Zigabid so unique:

uTorrent for Mac beta finally released

There has been talk about a Mac version of uTorrent for a good year and a half now, and we’ve had to make due with some lesser software. Until now.

uTorrent for Mac beta

Ok, that was harsh of me. But uTorrent is by far my favorite torrent client for Windows. Very lightweight, rich on features, stable etc. It does its job, and more. Except to exist for Mac OS X.

Boxee for Windows (and general updates)

Boxee Logo

On the Boxee blog I read some good news for all of you who’s waiting on the Windows version of Boxee to be released.

Some 200 people have signed up for the pre-alpha testing of boxee for Window, but I can imagine that number will grow rather quickly when word gets out more. Not sure how many testers they’re planning letting in though.

To the general we can add local media scanning, YouTube, Flickr, Picasa and CNN and Hulu. For me, local media scanning hasn’t been an issue at all, I’m just hoping that they address the network media scanning and improve that.

Boxee lands a $4 Million investment

Boxee Logo

Boxee, my new favorite media center application just announced that they landed a $4 million investment from Spark Capital and Union Square Ventures at 50% each, and this brings me joy and sparkles in my eyes.

Since I last reviewed Boxee, and re-reviewed it, I have really fallen even more in love with this application. I can only assume this investment will bring more awesomeness to the application and the Boxee team. Maybe they can do the network browsing a bit faster, have settings stick (When I change “View” under say Movies, then go up or down a level and back, the View setting is reset). And I don’t know if caching is busted somehow, but thumbnail view is slow as snails. Actually, every time I enter Movies, the system has to think for way too long for me not to get testy. Another thing I’ve been wondering about is if the system respects folder names/structures, or if it uses the media file only for data.
